President William Ruto has slashed the budget of retired presidents by 99 million shillings .
The former head of states will now enjoy the benefits package worth 547 million down from 646 million shillings.
The move comes as the president is trimming down the government expenditure. Many Kenyans especially Gen Z have been mounting pressure on the Kenya Kwanza government to go slowly on its spending spree.
So far the Statehouse comptroller Katoo Ole Metito has revealed that the statehouse budget has been reduced by 54% from over 9 billion shillings to 4.4 billion shillings.
Recently Ruto abolished the office of the first lady Rachael Ruto the office of the Spouse to the Deputy President Dorcas Rigathi. The budget to these offices was also cut.
Kenyans were spending 1.2 billion shillings annually towards the office of the first lady and the Spouse to the Deputy President .
