Gospel singer Ruth matete husband is dead. He succumbed to burn injuries that were caused by gas explosion. An incident that took place at their home in Greatwall Gardens, Athi River.
Ruth took to social media to confirm that indeed her Nigerian husband Pastor John Apewajoye had passed on Saturday, at around 8:30pm. He had been in ICU receiving treatment for weeks before his demise in undisclosed hospital in Nairobi.
According to Matete’s father, actor Abel Amunga, John was rushed to the hospital two weeks ago after sustaining injuries from a gas fire incident.
Two weeks ago, John who was a pastor and ministered together with Ruth Matete refilled their gas cylinder. However, the fire could not start and he suspected that the gas was in excess. He took it out to the balcony opened the valve to release some gas then returned it to the kitchen. He didn’t know that there were gases all over his clothes. On lighting the fire, he started to burn.
Ruth matete wedding took place November last year and the two lovers seemed to enjoy their marriage. Their wedding was only attended by close family and friends.
It was evidently sen that the singer was settled and happily in love after her body started gaining weight.
