Professor Jay real name is Joseph Leonard Haule and was born in Tanzania on 29 December 1975. He is a hip hop artist and politician. He was elected to Parliament in 2015 via CHADEMA to serve for 5 years to represent Mikumi Constituency.
Professor Jay who was referred back as Nigger J made a revolution in the Bongo Fleva music. With his top notch skills,he made the elderly listen to Bongo Fleva genre. He is one of the pioneers in Tanzanian hip hop.
He started music in 1989 and afterwards joining Hard Nlasters Crew(HBC) in 1994. Together with HBC,Prof J won 1995 best hip hop group in Tanzania. They released their first album,Funaga Kazi in 2000. The album had a great impact in Tanzania music scene. It made people of all ages like Bongo Flavor more and listen to it. Earlier it had been liked with gangster like habit.
2001,Joseph Haule decided to go solo. That’s when he released his first album,Machozi Jasho Na Damu. The album made was successful and won him best hip hop songwriter award.
In 2003,Professor Jay released his second album,Mapinduzi Halisi. It had the likes of Zali La Mentali hit.
Fast foward,he released his third album in January, 2006.
